Born and raised in south Germany, few artists are able to express emotion through abstract imagery quite like Annette Schmucker. She works primarily with oil paints, but also experiments heavily with acrylics. A master at capturing light, her pieces appear to glow from within. While she puts no limits on herself to stick to a signature style, her kaleidoscopic work is instantly recognizable.

The most striking element of Schmucker’s work is undoubtedly the observable radiance and remarkable use of light. Even though she rebels against the idea of having to preserve and uphold a distinct method, Schmucker agrees that the single commonality among her work is the depiction of light, expanse, and space. Drawing visual inspiration from the magic of everyday life, she frequently observes the ethereal sunlight and ever-changing cloud formations on her morning walks with her dog.
