A Family-Friendly Room
Less formal than a living room, the family room is meant to feel welcoming and warm. No matter the age of your children or younger family members, you can still curate a space that has personality and panache. Wall art can breathe new life into your space without breaking the bank. Your family room deserves artwork and décor that celebrates love and community.
A Sensible & Striking Style
While your furniture may have to have an element of practicality, that doesn’t mean your wall art has to! Depending on the age and personality of your family members, you can customize your décor to suit your family’s unique style. For families with older children and a more refined home, go with a minimalist modern print to add some sophistication to your space. If you want to help your youngins learn while they play, consider vibrant, educational artwork from our kids collection. Whether you decide to go lighthearted or luxurious with your décor, wall art can always be switched out with very little effort and expense!
Pro Tips: Family Room Ideas
ElephantStock's interior design expert Elimar Lobo Sáenz shares her tips for selecting family room decor:
"When it comes to decorating with kids and pets, you don’t have to sacrifice style, but it’s important to consider how you’ll feel if something gets dinged, torn or ruined. Remember that it will be a space for living and playing, so make it stylish with pieces that can bear dirty feet and or layers of fur and can be easily replaced."
Colors for Kids & Adults
Because your family room is an informal space, you can have fun selecting a playful color palette! If your family room is predominantly neutral, dare to be bold with a pop of color. If your space is already fully saturated, go with a color that complements your current décor. We offer wall art in a wide range of color options, so you can find a piece that matches both your desired color scheme and specific style.
White Family Room Ideas
Use white as a base to allow yourself to have more fun with pops of color. This classic neutral will allow your splashes of color to be the star of the show. Don’t try to compete with your vibrant décor. Instead, let it shine on its own.
Blue Family Room Ideas
If you’re stumped on which color will best suit your space, you can’t go wrong with blue. From pale blue to cobalt, there are tons of beautiful blue hues. This color is both calming and eye-catching, which makes it the more versatile color on the wheel.
Pro Tips: Family Room Ideas
Décor professional Elimar Lobo Sáenz shares another color-specific design tip:
"Starting with a neutral color scheme will allow you to customize your space as you (and your family’s) tastes and interests change. You can incorporate the “color of the moment,” and swap out your accent shade as trends change. Make sure to select an eggshell, satin, or gloss finish for the walls, as they are much easier to wipe down and keep clean."

Family Room Art Ideas: Pro Tips
“Your wall art should take about 60% to 75% of the available empty wall space, the portion not covered by moldings or furniture. Measure the height and width of the wall. Now, multiply the measurements by both 0.6 and 0.75. As a result, you will get the range of canvas print sizes to suit the space.
For instance, if your blank wall is 9 feet tall and 5 feet wide, multiply 9 by 0.6 to get the low end of the ideal height range. Then multiply 9 by 0.75 to get the high end of the ideal height range. Do the same for your wall's 5 feet width. The ideal height of the canvas would be 5.4 feet - 6.75 feet and the ideal width would be 3 feet - 3.75 feet.”
