What to Hang on Bathroom Walls in 2023
The beauty of 2023 trends is that they’re all about you! Personalization is key when it comes to achieving a contemporary interior. If your personality is more soft and subtle, let your bathroom reflect your aesthetic with billowy, romantic details. If you’re wilder and more carefree, don’t shy away from bright colors and bold décor. Your bathroom is the most personal space, which gives you the freedom to redecorate it in a one-of-a-kind, individualized style. While trends are important, it’s even more important to be true to yourself! A foolproof way to blend trends with your own décor is to hang a piece of wall art that reflects the current fads. Wall art is easy to swap out as trends come and go, which makes it an ideal addition to play around and experiment with. Curated Ideas for Bathroom Walls
Speaking of trends, our art director Tirzah Goodman has curated a selection of wall art inspired by top trending artists. For example, Georgia O’Keeffe is making a huge comeback in 2023. Her sensual, feminine prints are ideal for a modern bathroom with a traditional twist. Choose a soft, delicate floral print with a pastel color scheme to add a soft touch to your space. Pair your piece of artwork with vases of fresh flowers and greenery for a calming, botanical feel. Make sure your space is well-lit to maximize the dreamy, serene atmosphere. Your bathroom should be a spa-like escape from reality, and our O’Keeffe-inspired collection is perfect for creating your own relaxing getaway.
The Benefit of Bathroom Art
Bathroom Wall Ideas: Pro Tips
Our resident décor and design professional, Elimar Lobo Sáenz, embraces the importance of self-care and adorning your bathroom with wall art:
“The bathroom should be a sacred space to be with yourself. Aesthetically, it can play a major role in setting the tone for the rest of your home. Adding a large piece of artwork can be the perfect way to tie the whole room together and provide a touch of personality. Also, don’t underestimate the power of a well-curated bathroom gallery-wall!”

Bathroom Wall Ideas: Pro Tips
If you’ve decided to go with a multi-panel print, follow these pro tips from our guide on how to hang multi-panel artwork:
* Width: for all layouts, we recommend leaving 1" space between each panel when hung, for the best airy but tied-together look! If the gap is too big or too small, you'll lose the effect of the split canvas.
* Height: the height of the rest of the panels depends on the layout you selected. Some layouts are symmetrical, and some layouts resemble a wave and feature different heights. In general, be consistent! For example, if you hung the left panel 3" lower than the middle panel, be sure to hang the right panel in the same proportion. Use your ruler and pencil to measure the right height!
Bathroom Wall Art Ideas: Sizes
RULES FOR CANVAS DIMENSIONS
Your wall art should take about 60% to 75% of the available empty wall space, the portion not covered by moldings or furniture. Measure the height and width of the wall. Now, multiply the measurements by both 0.6 and 0.75. As a result, you will get the range of canvas print sizes to suit the space.
For instance, if your blank wall is 9 feet tall and 5 feet wide, multiply 9 by 0.6 to get the low end of the ideal height range. Then multiply 9 by 0.75 to get the high end of the ideal height range. Do the same for your wall's 5 feet width. The ideal height of the canvas would be 5.4 -feet 6.75 feet and the ideal width would be 3 feet - 3.75 feet.
IDEAL FOR THE HALLWAY: 36"X75"
Large wall art that measures 36 inches by 75 inches in height and width can create a polished, classic look in your hallway. This wall art size works well in long hallways as well as over your entertainment area.
Creative Bathroom Wall Décor & Styles
Bathrooms are becoming increasingly modern in appearance. The defining characteristic of a contemporary bathroom is a sleek, minimalist space. Use wall art as your main statement piece.
Bathroom Wall Ideas: Pro Tips
ElephantStock's interior design expert Elimar Lobo Sáenz highlights the foolproof nature of a contemporary, abstract print in any space:
“Always consider abstract or contemporary art. Whether you want to create a balance of edgy and elegant, or you want to lean into the urban-glam trend, there’s something special about contemporary art. The inherent mystery that lies behind an abstract painting is eye-catching and attention-grabbing.”
Sáenz also suggests modern décor to pair with your wall art of choice:
“Despite what is commonly believed, the use of stone and marble isn't the only way to create a luxurious atmosphere in the bathroom. Although the use of sleek materials is one way to achieve luxury, lightning and design share an important role. Try creating a focal point with statement lighting, and ensure the area around your mirror is well-lit. Complement your bright space with organic touches like live greenery and wooden details.”
Bathroom Wall Color Concepts
You can’t go wrong with a neutral base. Experiment with shades of off-white, grey, and beige on your bathroom walls. By painting your walls in soft, neutral tones, it allows you more freedom with décor and artwork.
Black Bathroom Wall Décor
If you’re on the hunt for something a little more daring, use black as the base for your space. You can also make a striking, modern impact by adding matte black details.
