Music Room Décor Inspiration

The first step is to determine your musical style. If you’re a rock artist, go with an abstract print that celebrates the raw energy of rock n’ roll. For classical music teachers, hang educational posters for your students to learn from the moment they step in the room. If you’re a homeowner who just loves to jam out, choose an artistic interpretation of vintage speakers or a retro turntable. The options are endless, and it’s all about discovering the print that inspires you.

Music Themed Wall Art Shapes

When selecting the shape of your music room wall art, it’s important to match the layout to your personality. Follow this list to choose your perfect shape:

Chic and Classic: The Single-Panel Rectangle or Single-Panel Square

Traditional-Meets-Trendy: The Single-Panel Vertical Canvas or the Single-Panel Panoramic Canvas

Eye-Catching and Multi-Dimensional: The Triptych Tri-Panel Canvas or the Symmetrical Five-Panel Canvas

Bold and Contemporary: The Split Two-Piece Canvas or the Four-Panel “Wave” Canvas

Fun and Eclectic: The 7-Piece Hexagonal Canvas Set

Music Room Décor: Pro Tips

If you decide to hang a modern multi-panel print, read this handy advice from our article on how to hang multi-piece canvases:

* Width: for all layouts, we recommend leaving 1" space between each panel when hung, for the best airy but tied-together look! If the gap is too big or too small, you'd lose the effect of the split canvas.

* Height: the height of the rest of the panels depends on the layout you selected. Some layouts are symmetrical, and some layouts resemble a wave and feature different heights. In general, be consistent! For example, if you hung the left panel 3" lower than the middle panel, be sure to hang the right panel in the same proportion. Use your ruler and pencil to measure the right height!

Music Room Artwork Sizes

Take a look at these excerpts from our article on how to select the best size canvas print for your music room:

Your wall art should take about 60% to 75% of the available empty wall space, the portion not covered by moldings or furniture. Measure the height and width of the wall. Now, multiply the measurements by both 0.6 and 0.75. As a result, you will get the range of canvas print sizes to suit the space.

Wall art that you want to hang over furniture, such as a fireplace, a bed or a couch, should be between 2/3 and 3/4 of the furniture's width. To measure the ideal art size above your furniture, consider this example: If your couch is 6 feet wide, multiply it by 0.66 and 0.75. You need a canvas between 3.96 feet and 4.5 feet wide to fit impressively above the couch.

Planning a gallery wall above the furniture, or hanging a split canvas? The best size is 52 inches by 32 inches in height and width. Use canvas of asymmetrical sizes and arrange them in symmetry to create an eye-catching look on your wall.

Music Room Décor: Pro Tips

ElephantStock's interior design expert Elimar Lobo Sáenz shares her tips for combining your passion with decor:

"Beyond creating a composition based on aesthetic taste and preferences, every interior design project should be personalized. Even if the goal of an interior is simplicity and modernity, incorporating something a little quirky, makes the room a little more interesting. When adding personal elements to your space, evaluate a room’s overall composition for balance rather than deliberately create focal points."
